One to Watch – Kembla

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 4
This I Am Invincible colt had six starts at two, five of them in stakes races including a Group I and never finished worse than fifth, so no wonder he was a hot favourite in a maiden event at Kembla on Saturday.

Spin as a yearlingCarrying the James Harron Bloodstock colours, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Spin travelled fourth I the run for Mitchell Bell and when asked for an effort in the straight quickly put them away to win the 1200 metre maiden by three and three-quarter lengths.

A $200,000 Inglis Classic Yearling purchase for JHB from the Attunga Stud draft, Spin is the second winner for stakes-winning Flying Spur mare Roulettes, a half-sister to Group III winner Discretion.

Spin was not far off the best colts last season having been placed behind Written By and Santos as well as finishing fifth beaten just a length and a half in the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes, so expect him to be returning to Black Type races sooner rather than later.

Spin is among 10 entries for the $1million Golden Rose for Yarraman Park's flagship sire I Am Invincible.
