Well known New Zealand Bloodstock bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster added another string to his bow with a winner he helped select in France earlier this month.
Last August, Guy invited his friends the Heinrich family- Gillian & Hoss and their daughter Tayla on a bloodstock trip that took in Saratoga followed by a visit the gorgeous seaside village on the French coast of Deauville for the Arqana August Yearling Sale.
After taking a trip to the horse heaven of Chantilly prior to the sale, the Heinrich's understandably fell in love with France and in true exuberant style wanted to be part of it.
With Guy's guidance and Gillian Heinrich's keen eye, the Heinrich's ended up buying two yearlings at the Arqana sale to leave to be trained in France.
The first filly they struck was Lot 31, a well-bred filly by No Nay Never who is a half-sister to two Group winners Forces of Darkness (Lawman) and Waterloo Bridge (Zoffany) and out of a stakeswinning mare Miss Childrey (Dr Fong) for 120,000 Euros.
The Heinrich's trusted leading Chantilly Nicolas Clement with their debut purchase and named her Vanilla Gold. She showed natural ability by running third on debut and then winning at her second start over 1100m in impressive style and looks set for better things.
Congratulations to Hoss, Gillian and Tayla Heinrich as well as Guy Mulcaster on this terrific result.
This continued on a great run of success for Australian owners in France. Prominent Australian breeder and owner John Camilleri, racing under his Fairway Thoroughbreds banner has two last start winners with master trainer Andre Fabre.
Gabrielle, an impeccably bred 3-year-old filly by Dark Angel showed good stamina to win over 2800m. The victory followed on the heels of his Galileo filly Via Condotti who is the full sister to Highland Reel winning at her second start.
Former ATC Chairman Ron Finemore along with Peter Maher who has been a long time passionate supporter of the French industry enjoyed success in July when winning with their Lawman filly Wagga Wagga. Ron and Peter enjoyed even more success earlier in the month with daughter of Intello named Tingu winning for trainer Francis Graffard- they race Tingu in partnership with another Australian owner in John Baxter.
The timing of these Aussie success stories couldn't be better with the Arqana yearling sale right around the corner in Deauville on August 18th.
All aboard the Deauville Express.
