Power Packed Maiden

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 25
The juvenile maiden at Canterbury on Wednesday has drawn a highly competitive field including some well bred youngsters looking to break the ice and move on to the better grades this spring with the Group I Golden Rose looming large on the horizon.

Second to subsequent Group I winner The Autumn Sun when making his debut at Randwick back in April, the Tim Martin trained Exceed and Excel colt Danawi is tipped to run well at his first run since then and has Hugh Bowman on board.

The first living foal of dual Group I winner Secret Admirer, Danawi was a $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase for his trainer from the Milburn Creek draft.

Another blue-blooded colt who has had one start for a second is the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Sneaking to Win, a half-brother by Snitzel to four-time Group I winner Appearance.

A $450,00 Magic Millions purchase from the Kitchwin Hills draft, Sneaking to Win was heavily backed at his first when second to Master Ash at Canterbury on July 4 and has race fitness on his side and James McDonald to ride.

First starter England is the most expensive runner being a $900,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Kia Ora Stud draft for Aquis / Tom Magnier / Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) / Mayfair / Coolmore.

The Fastnet Rock colt is trained by Chris Waller and has won his only two previous trials with Kerrin McEvoy to ride.

England is the first foal of Champion Canadian 3YO Filly Inglorious (USA), who is by Hennessy, a stallion that has achieved great results with Fastnet Rock.

The Fastnet Rock x Hennessy cross has produced nine winners from 14 starters headed by Group I winner Irish Lights, Group II winner Zululand and $1.4 million earning Group III winner Fast 'n' Rocking.

All three colts are nominated for the Group I Golden Rose on September 22.

Stay tuned as they jump at 2pm.
