Returning
to Darley in the Hunter Valley this spring, Dawn Approach (IRE) sired an
impressive winner in south African on Saturday with Shadwell homebred Alyaasaat
scoring a dominant victory at Turffontein.
Having his second start in the 1400 metre maiden, the Mike de Kock trained two
year-old colt was a short priced favourite and romped in to win by nearly five
lengths.
Foaled and raised at Yarraman Park for Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell, Alyaasaat is
the sixth winner from Yaasah (IRE), a half-sister by Distant View to
stakes-winner Chercheuse, the dam of Champion US 3YO Filly Questing.
From his first Australian crop of two year-olds, Dawn Approach is the sire of
Group II placed Gongs as well as smart winners Condemned and Tahitian Dancer.
A grand-son of Galileo, Dawn Approach stands at a fee of $19,250 this spring.
