Deep Impact Colt Lights up the Ring

Mark Smith - Tuesday July 10

Halfway through the foal session and the legendary Deep Impact is really making his mark with several $2,000,000 plus lots but this one blew them all out of the water.

Lot 400, Northern Farm's colt out of the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies heroine Ria Antonia (Rockport Harbor) was knocked down to Satomi Horse Company for 290 million yen ($A3,500,000)

He is the second foal of Ria Antonia who was honoured as the champion 2-year-old filly in Canada. Her first foal, a 2yo filly also by Deep Impact, named Ria Olivia is in training.

Earlier, a Deep Impact colt out of the excellent producer Silverskaya was knocked down to Tony Club for 180,000,00 yen (A$2, 169,000).

A half-brother to Seville (Galileo), who was runner-up in the Irish Derby, Racing Post Trophy and Grand Prix de Paris, this colt is the tenth foal of the Group III Prix de Royaumont winner Silverskaya (Silver Hawk) who is a half-sister to Danehill's Group II winner Daneskaya and Listed winner Mumtaz (Kaldoun).

Also matching that price was a chestnut colt from the first crop of King Kamehameha's Japanese Derby winner Duramente.

Nicks Co Ltd signed the ticket for the second foal of the multiple Group II winner and multiple Group 1 placed I'm yours (Falbrav) who hails from the family of Horse Of The Year, Air Groove
