Long
time bloodstock agent Anton Koolman has had a very successful start to the year
having an involvement in Group I winners The Autumn Sun, Youngstar and Egg Tart,
that success carried over to a two year-old maiden winner by Zoustar at
Hawkesbury on Thursday.
Bred and retained to race by Koolman, the David Pfieffer trained colt Monte
Ditto resumed from a spell to win the 1000 metre dash by a neck.
Fifth of 10 on debut at Gosford back in January, Monte Ditto has made good
improvement since then and raced up on the pace before kicking on strongly to
win.
A half-brother to stakes-winners Hidden Warrior and Defiant Dame as well as
stakes-placed Sea Spur, Monte Ditto is the last foal of good producer
Marcovette, who died in 2015 after foaling him.
Monte Ditto is the tenth winner for Widden Stud’s Zoustar the Champion
Australian First Season Sire elect for 2017/2018. The best son of Northern Meteor,
Zoustar stands at a fee of $60,500 this spring.
