Inglis Easter purchase Oceanity made a pleasing debut at Sandown on Wednesday,
but will have to wait for another day to break maiden status after finishing second
to I Am Invincible colt Ben Hercules.
Prepared at Lindsay Park by the Hayes Dabernig training partnership, Ben
Hercules had fitness and race experience on his side coming into this 1000
metre juvenile contest off a last start win at Bendigo.
He raced forward for Craig Williams and kicked away down the running before
holding off a determined challenge from Oceanity, a three-quarter brother by
Snitzel to ill-fated sire Beneteau.
Ben Hercules has now won two of four starts and looks a nice type to keep improving.
Retained to race by his breeders, Ben Hercules is a half-brother to
stakes-winner Meteoroid from stakes-placed Benatar.
He is one of 20 two year-old winners this season for Yarraman Park's flagship
sire I Am Invincible.
