Windsor
Park shuttler Charm Spirit (IRE) sired a winning double at Salisbury in the UK
overnight with Oberyn Martin scoring his second victory from just three starts,
while Forseti opened his account to be the fifth winner for his promising young
sire.
Trained by Andrew Balding, Forseti scored a determined win over seven furlongs
at his second start.
Oberyn Martin, from the stable of Eve Johnson Houghton, was a short priced favourite
for his race and was dominant at the finish in cruising clear to win the six
furlong sprint by more than two lengths.
"Oberyn Martell is just Mr
Professional. He was quite buzzy in his first two starts but takes it all in
his stride now. He is likely to go for the Doncaster Sales race at York next
month and go straight there," said Eve Johnson Houghton.
A
triple Group I winning son of Invincible Spirit, Charm Spirit has made a
positive impression at Australasian yearling sales this year with his first
Southern Hemisphere bred yearlings.
Charm Spirit had 30 yearlings average $112,000 at Karaka Book
1 and also had four yearlings average $2616,250 at the Magic Millions Yearling
Sale on the Gold Coast.
His yearlings sold for up to $400,000 with his top seller a
filly from Lady Kipling sold by Windsor Park at Karaka and bought by Ciaron
Maher / Waterford Bloodstock.
Charm Spirit stands at a fee of $18,000.
