18 for I Am Invincible

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 26
I Am Invincible broke the three way deadlock at 17 all for leading sire by Australian two year-old winners at Wyong on Tuesday when Salsa Man flashed home to score an eye-catching win.

Salsa Man as a yearlingThe Paul Perry trained colt showed a big improvement on his first two starts when finishing midfield at Canterbury.

This time he settled down at the rear for Jay Ford and seemed to appreciate the slightly longer 1300 metre journey, powering home along the inside with a neat turn of foot to reel in the favourite Smartray and score by half a length.

"The penny just hasn't dropped with him, but it might have after today," said stable representative Shannon Perry.

"He really attacked the line and flew home.

"It's great for his owners Steve and Louise Gillard. They put a lot into racing and deserve to have a champion."

A $300,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for Paul Perry, Salsa Man is a half-brother to stakes-winner Stagnite and Group III placed Dancing Express being from winning Zabeel mare Ladies Dancing, who comes from the family of Group I New Zealand Derby winner Coniston Bluebird.

Salsa Man is the 18th Australian two year-old winner this season for Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible putting him one ahead of Not a Single Doubt and Spirit of Boom.
