Invincible Spirit Colt Wins G1 Commonwealth Cup

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 23
Invincible Spirit colts with Group I form have become sought after as stallion prospects and we can add the name of Eqtidaar to that list after his stylish win in the Group I Commonwealth Cup (6f) at Royal Ascot.

A homebred for Shadwell prepared by Sir Michael Stoute, Eqtidaar was tucked away in the centre group early before he moved powerfully up to challenge coming to the last furlong and although he hung away to his left having got to the front, was always doing enough to hold onand win by half a length.

Eqtidaar - Ascot Racecourse Twitter"We have always likedEqtidaar I thought things just didn't go quite right for him the first time he ran here in the Pavilion Stakes. Then at Newbury last time he was on the wrong side of the track and at halfway was too far out of his ground. He worked very well the other weekend under Jim Crowley, so we were hopeful," said Sir Michael Stoute.

It was the first Black Type win for Eqtidaar, who has won two of five starts and was Group III placed once previously.

He is the 16th Group I winner for Invincible Spirit and is a half-brother to Group II winner Massaat from two time winning Acclamation mare Madany.
