The
race to be leading sire of Australian two year-old winners took an interesting
turn on Friday with I Am Invincible drawing level with Not a Single Doubt and
Spirit of Boom on 17 winners.
The Yarraman Park heavyweight posted his 17th winner when promising
colt Carruthers beat older maidens to win at Canberra on the acton track.
Prepared by Norm Gardner, he was fourth and third at his first two starts and
then led all the way to win by nearly three lengths at his third outing over
1280 metres.
Retained to race, he is a three-quarter brother to Group II winner Spirit Song
and is the third winner from Lightning Rules, a daughter of Melbourne Cup
winner Kingston Rule (USA).
I Am Invincible is fully booked this spring at a fee of $192,500.
