Aquis Purchase I Am Invincible SW Top Seller at Inglis Great Southern Day 3

Media Release - Tuesday June 19

The weanling catalogue of the 2018 Inglis Great Southern Sale concluded today with a total of 444 weanlings being sold.

Leading Victorian stallion Written Tycoon topped the sire's list, with all 10 Lots selling for an aggregate of $931,500 at an average of $93,150.

Woodside Park's unreserved reduction of 18 weanlings made them the leading vendor by aggregate, grossing $948,500 at an average of $52,694.

Glenelg Park led the vendors by average, selling all six Lots they offered at an average of $89,667.

Woodside Park's General Manager Commercial James Price reflected on what has been a fantastic sale for the stud.

"It's great to be the leading commercial stud in Victoria," Price Said.

"It's equally satisfying to see the progeny of Written Tycoon in high demand not only Australia wide but also internationally.

"Offering 18 weanlings unreserved certainly created a lot of interest around our product.

"We wish the purchasers well with their plans."

Paul Willetts was the leading weanling buyer, signing for 10 horses and another in partnership and said the sale had always been a favourite of his.

"If you do the work, try and see as many horses as you can, you can always find some gems amongst them," Willetts said.

"I love buying them here (in Victoria).

"I've been coming to this sale for 20 years and have had plenty of success."

Meanwhile, as the broodmare section of the sale got underway, Aquis Farm paid $380,000 for Stakes-winning filly Yulong Xingsheng (pictured).

Aquis CEO Shane McGrath was thrilled to be taking the filly home.

"She is a beautiful quality mare who is by one of the best sires in the country. We loved her and she was our pick of the sale,'' McGrath said.

"I thought ($380,000) was a very fair price for her when you value her in comparison to previous sales. When you buy these A-Grade physicals with the proper race form, that is what you have to expect to pay.

"She has done her job on the track and we will have fun with her going forward."

Day four of the 2018 Inglis Great Southern Sale sees 225 mares catalogued to go through the ring.

Action begins at Oaklands Junction from 10am.
