Foxwedge Winners Impress

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 11
Foxwedge has made his name with Group I winning fillies Foxplay and Volpe Veloce and a recent spate of smart winners includes two more promising girls with stakes potential.

NoireChris Waller put the polish on Foxplay and has always had a good opinion of her stablemate Noire, another Star Thoroughbreds owned daughter of Foxwedge.

Four year-old Noire (image Steve Hart) has built an impressive record and has already won nearly $300,000 in prizemoney with the only thing missing from her resume being a Black Type victory.

She hit top form at her second run back from a spell at Randwick on Saturday and the Group I Tatts Tiara on June 23 is now right in the picture.

"This whole preparation has been geared towards getting her up to the Tatt's Tiara and winning today is enough to send her up," said stable representative Charlie Duckworth said.

"Tye (Angland) was conscious that 1200 was probably a little bit short of her best but he got her rolling in a nice rhythm. She looked the winner from the top of the straight," he said.

A $135,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Star from the Highgrove Stud draft, Noire has six wins and three seconds from 12 starts with prizemoney topping $289,000.

She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Global Dream, Maraatib and Valoura being the seventh winner from good producer Valadon, a half-sister to Group II winners Timbourina and Media.
Foxwedge
Foxwedge has reeled off six winners over the long weekend including unbeaten Alassio, who made it three wins in as many starts when scoring at Randwick on the Kensington track on Monday.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained four year-old mare has been handled patiently and led all the way to win a Benchmark 78 fillies and mares event over 1100 metres by a long neck as favourite.

A bargain $50,000 Inglis Easter Session II purchase from the Emirates Park draft for Gai Waterhouse/ Julian Blaxland, Alassio is the second winner from stakes-winning Red Ransom (USA) mare Cinque, whose other winning daughter Sport Chic also produced a winner at Randwick on Monday in promising two yea-rold Dealmaker. Foxwedge has sired the winners of over $4million this season and stands at Newgate Farm at a fee of $22,000.
