Aussie 2YO Stakes-Winner in South Africa

The Listed Devon Air Stakes at Greyville on Sunday was won by two year-old Bernardini (USA) filly Firdoas, a homebred for Shadwell that was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park.

BernardiniThe Mike de Kock trained filly was a short priced favourite for the 1400 metre contest and scored a three quarter length win, her second from three starts.

She is a half-sister to South African stakes performers Ataab and Fareeq and is the fifth winner from Azwa, a half-sister by Haafhd to South African Group II winner Mujarib.

Azwa has a yearling filly by Medaglia D'Oro (USA) and was covered last spring by Star Witness.

Firdoas is the 64th stakes-winner for former Darley shuttler Bernardini.
