Scoring
a stylish debut victory at Ipswich on Wednesday was Sizzling gelding The Fire
Trap, who was sent out favourite and duly delivered.
Trained by Matthew Dunn, The Fire Trap raced up on the pace and stuck to his
guns to forge clear and win the 1100 metre maiden by a length.
An $80,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale purchase from the
Lyndhurst Farm draft for his trainer and Neil Jenkinson, The Fire Trap is the
first winner for Rasteira, a well related Flying Spur mare from the family of
Group winning fillies Tulip, Musidora and Sacred Eye.
He is the sixth winner for his young Newgate Farm based sire, who is knocking
on the door of his first stakes-winner with four Black Type horses on the board
including Sizzling Ace, who was a good third last Saturday in the Group II BRC
Sires Produce Stakes.
A Group I winning son of champion sire Snitzel, Sizzling stands at Newgate this
spring at a fee of $16,500.
