Early betting picture for the 2017 Aurie's Star Handicap

Brad Waters - Thursday August 10

Sydney mare Flippant has met with plenty of support in the early betting on Saturday's Group III Aurie's Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington.

Trainers Peter and Paul Snowden prepared Flippant to win down the straight during last year's Melbourne Cup carnival and she has firmed with agencies to repeat that effort on Saturday.

Sportsbet has tightened her quote from $6 to $4.40, Luxbet and Ladbrokes have trimmed her price from $5.50 to $4.40 and $4.50 respectively while she has firmed from $6 to $4.60 at William Hill.

The money for Flippant was enough for her to become the favourite for the $150,000 race ahead of the Lindsay Park runner Cannyescent, who is a $5.50 chance.

Australian Guineas winner Hey Doc is next best at prices ranging from $6 to $7 while I Am Star is trading at either $7.50 or $8.
