Hard Spun's Pleasuring Captures Fillies Classic

Mark Smith - Saturday May 19

After two Listed stakes wins in Tasmania, Contract Racing's Hard Spun (USA) filly Pleasuring took that form to the mainland to earn a convincing victory in Saturday's $175,000 Group III Ubet SA Fillies Classic (2500m) at Morphettville.

It made it three consecutive wins on the day for Damian Lane who gave the Darren Weir-trained filly a special ride to defeat Miss Finland's daughter Earth Angel (Animal Kingdom) by three-quarter of a length with the winner's stablemate Teadora (Teofilo) the same distance back in third.

Weir won the race back in 2002 with She's Archie when the race was a Group 1 known as the SAJC South Australian Oaks

.

"It's been a great race for the stable and it's a great thrill to win it again today," Weir said.

"The connections are great supporters of the stable. She's an amazing little horse. She's had two trips to Tasmania, that's her third trip to Adelaide between other runs as well, so she is a tough horse.

"She's got better the further into her the prep. She eats enough to keep herself alive and that's just about it.

"She deserves a well-earned rest now."

With her third stakes win, Pleasuring advances her record to 4 wins, 2 seconds and 3 thirds from 12 starts with earnings of $369,500.

Bred by Contract Racing, Mr A Peterson and Mr J Crisp, Pleasuring is the best of seven winners from eight to race out of the Sydney winning End Sweep mare Sleeplessinseattle a half-sister to Seattle Ice and Profit Report who were both stakes-winners in South Africa.

Sleeplessinseattle's dam Seattle Rhyme (Seattle dancer) is a half-sister to Group 1 VATC Yalumba Stakes winner Northern Drake.

Sleeplessinseattle has a 2yo Canford Cliffs colt named Cozhecancan but she missed in 2015, slipped in 2016 and missed to Kuroshio last spring.
