A brother to the New Zealand-bred Group I Melbourne Cup (3200m) winner Prince Of Penzance has opened his account in Victoria.
The Henry Dwyer-trained three-year-old Heir To The Throne, a son of Pentire and Royal Successor, was successful over 1600m at Hamilton on Monday.
He was purchased by Dwyer out of the 2016 draft of Rich Hill Stud, who also bred and sold Prince Of Penzance, at Karaka for $200,000. -NZ Racing Desk
Footnote: Prince of Penzance might not be the best Melbourne Cup winner in history, but he is one of the most famous having carried Michelle Payne to victory, a story that is the inspiration for an upcoming movie Ride Like a Girl.
