The
late Bede Murray was a great supporter of the annual Wagga Cup Carnival so it
was only fitting to see his son Graham train the winner of the Inglis 2YO
Handicap and collect a $50,000 bonus with Fighting Sun filly Miss Scorcher.
Miss Scorcher was a brilliant front running winner at Kembla on April 7 and
showed a similar turn of foot from the gates at Wagga when sent out a short
priced favourite.
She cruised to the front for Jeff Penza and dashed away from her rivals to win
the 1200 metre sprint by a commanding four lengths.
A $78,000 Inglis Premier Session II purchase from the Bucklee Farm draft for
Murray Livestock / DJI Bloodstock, Miss Scorcher has won two of three starts
and looks to have a very bright future.
Miss Scorcher is one of three winners from Special Mention, a minor winner by
Exceed and Excel whose third dam is former champion sprinting filly Special.
Eureka Stud will offer a full brother to Miss Scorcher at the Magic Millions
National Yearling Sale as Lot 2036.
Miss Scorcher is one of five winners by Sun Stud's promising Northern Meteor
son Fighting Sun, who stands this spring at a fee of $15,400.
