New Zealand based stallions continue to produce talented offspring with performances on the track showcasing the distinctive Kiwi-bred traits to the world. 

The results achieved by these local sires makes the search for quality atNZB's Karaka May Saleeffortless, along with the next generation of bloodlines adding to the appeal.

Proven Strength

SavabeelHeading for his fourth straight New Zealand Sires' Premiership title, Waikato Stud's Savabeel needs no introduction. The son of Zabeel has notched up a total of 47 Group winners and 73 stakes winners with current season flag-bearersSavvy Coup(NZ),Sword of Osman(NZ),Embellish(NZ),Hasahalo(NZ),Kawi(NZ) andShillelagh(NZ) claiming Group 1 wins in New Zealand and Australia. Savabeel will be represented by one yearling, two racehorse and two broodmares.

Leading the way for The Oaks Stud'sDarci Brahmais Group 1 HKJC Centenary Sprint Cup winnerD B Pin(NZ) and Group 1 WFA Stakes winnerDevise(NZ). Siring 50 winners and five stakes winners this season alone, the Champion 2YO and 3YO will have two weanlings, two yearlings and two broodmares presented at the Sale.

Haunui Farm's leading sireIffraajhas become renowned for his versatile output of winners and has produced 58 stakes winners and 28 Group winners to date. Champion 2YOMelody Belle(NZ) won the Karaka Million 2YO, whileGingernuts(NZ) won Group 1 Derbies on both sides of the Tasman as well as the Group 1 Windsor Park Plate in the spring. Further afield, star sprinterJungle Catwon the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan. Iffraaj will have six weanlings, two yearlings and a broodmare served by Belardo at the Sale.

Sire sensationTavistock, member of Cambridge Stud's stallion roster, has produced consistent Group 1 performers with the likes of Hong Kong Horse of the YearWerther(NZ) andVolkstok'n'barrell(NZ) who has relocated to Singapore. Four-time stakes winnerInfantry(NZ), who sold at the Sale as a weanling, was crowned Singapore Horse of the Year. He will again be presented at the Sale by four weanlings, three yearlings, a racehorse and a broodmare served by Jimmy Choux.

Buyers will also have the opportunity to buy into the progeny of leading sires in AustraliaSnitzelandFastnet Rock. Snitzel has one yearling and a broodmare served by Vadamos while Fastnet Rock has one weanling, one racehorse and a broodmare served by Tavistock.

Young Sires Making a Mark

Quickly making a name for himself, Haunui Farm'sShowcasinghas sired 26 stakes winners and 14 Group winners in both the northern and southern hemispheres. He produced Karaka Million 2YO winnerHardline(NZ) in his first crop, and then Karaka 3YO Mile (now the $1 million Karaka Million 3YO Classic) winnerRaghu(NZ). More recently,Xpression(NZ) won the Group 2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes at just her second start. Showcasing's progeny at the Sale will include 17 weanlings and three yearlings.

BurgundyCambridge Stud's Burgundy is represented by only two crops to race yet and he has already sired the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the YearDijon Bleu(NZ) along with Group 2 Guineas winnerHard Merchandize(NZ). The multiple stakes-winning son of Redoute's Choice will have three weanlings presented at the Sale.

The British-bred sireReliable Man, standing at Westbury Stud, has produced stakes winners in both hemispheres from just two racing crops.Main Stage(NZ) won the UCI Stakes at Flemington while star filliesSully(NZ) andBelle du Nord(NZ) have both placed at Group 1 level. Reliable Man will be represented by five weanlings, six yearlings, one two-year-old and one broodmare.

Four-time Group 1 winner and Waikato Stud homebredSacred Fallsis by the stud's late O'Reilly. His first crop yearlings attracted many buyers at Karaka earlier this year with 46 yearlings selling for an average of $113,891 and a top price of $300,000. The young sire will have 12 weanlings from his second crop of foals and one yearling from his first crop.

Windsor Park Stud'sCharm Spiritwon three consecutive Group 1 races at his last three starts and is the son of Invincible Spirit. His first crop yearlings were also well received at Karaka with buyers securing 39 yearlings at an average of $96,103, with the highest price paid $400,000. He will have one weanling and two yearlings at the Sale.

The New Generation

  • Complacent(Authorized – Insouciance) – Mapperley Stud's four-time Group winner, who is bred on the same cross as Tavistock, will have 10 of his first crop weanlings at the Sale.
  • Contributer(High Chaparral – Serisia) – A Champion Australian Middle Distance horse and dual Group 1 winner standing at Mapperley Stud. Contributer will be represented by nine of his first crop weanlings.
  • Mongolian Khan(Holy Roman Emperor – Centafit) – Winner of the Group 1 New Zealand Derby, Australian Derby and Caulfield Cup, the twice-crowned New Zealand Horse of the Year stands at Windsor Park Stud. He will be represented by eight of his first crop weanlings.
  • Sweynesse(Lonhro – Swansea) – Novara Park's unbeaten 2YO, and winner of his first four starts, claimed two Group races as well as placing at Group 1 level. Sweynesse will be represented by 14 weanlings from his first crop.
  • Kermadec(Teofilo – Hy Fuji) – Darley's Group 1 Doncaster Mile winner at three, and Group 1 George Main Stakes winner at four, will have one first crop weanling on offer.
  • Press Statement(Hinchinbrook – Kaaptive Empress) – A Group 1 winner at two before going on to win the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas as a three-year-old. Standing at Vinery Stud, one first crop weanling will be presented at the Sale.
  • Pride of Dubai(Street Cry – Al Anood) – The only horse to complete the Group 1 Blue Diamond/Sires' Produce double. The sprinter now stands at Coolmore and will offer one weanling from his first crop.
