Daily Debutants

Tara Madgwick, Brad Waters - Tuesday May 1
The Daily Debutants list for Tuesday includes the full sister to brilliant sprinter Rich Enuff.

Ken Keys will debut Rich Enuff’s little sister in the VOBIS Gold Strike (1000m) at Warrnambool.

Rich Enuff went within inches of giving Keys his maiden Group I win when he was narrowly beaten in the 2014 Caulfield Guineas

A succession of niggles prevented Rich Enuff from reaching those heights again in the rest of his career, which followed the colt’s sale to Victorian breeder Woodside Park Stud. Peter and Paul Snowden trained Rich Enuff for his final preparation in 2016.

Keys bred Rich Enuff and Write Enuff, who will make her first public appearance in the VOBIS Gold Strike. Keys said Write Enuff has had two jumpouts on her home track at Cranbourne to prepare for Tuesday’s $70,000 contest.

Keys said Write Enuff was a different style of horse to Rich Enuff but would improve with experience.

"She’s a nice enough filly and she’ll run a bit without going overboard,” Keys said.

"She’ll make a nice three-year-old and she has to start off somewhere.

"She’s not the same colour and definitely not an imposing horse. She’s definitely not the brute Rich Enuff was at her age.”

Tuesday’s race is restricted to horses paid up for the VOBIS Gold Series of races. Keys said the fact a limited number of horses are eligible for the race was a factor in his decision to head across the state to Warrnambool.

"That is of concern, the travel time. She has got to be there two hours before (the race) and she’ll be coming a fair way from Cranbourne,” Keys said.

"It’s just a race that presents itself because it’s a race that a lot of horses aren’t eligible for. It’s a restricted race.

"It’s just restricted to VOBIS Gold horses and the whole market out there isn’t all VOBIS Gold, so it knocks a lot of other horses out of that race. It helps narrow your options.”
