Torvill Powers Home in Gold Coast Bracelet

After a frustrating run of minor placings at the Sydney Autumn Carnival, the Not A Single Doubt filly Torvill was a well-deserved winner of Saturday's Listed Aquis Park Gold Coast Bracelet (1630m) at Doomben.

Placed in the Group 1 Surround Stakes and the Group II Light Fingers Stakes at Randwick as well as the Group III Kembla Grange Classic, Torvill was winning for the first time since the Listed Reginal Allen Quality back in October last year (pictured).

Ridden by James Orman for Warwick Farm-based trainer Clarry Conners, Torvill overcame an outside barrier to defeat Another Dollar (Ocean Park) by one and a quarter lengths with Improvise (Hinchinbrook) the same distance back in third.


Making her 12th start this season, Torvill advances her record to 3 wins, 4 seconds and 2 thirds from 15 starts with earnings of $377,115.

"She had the class edge here because she has been Group One placed but it was still a big run," Orman told AAP.

Connors is overseas attending the Kentucky Derby. It is anticipated that Torvill will attempt to become his third Queensland Oaks winner after Zagalia (2003) and Allow (2006).

A half-sister to the stakes-placed Bolero King, Torvill is out of the winning Iglesia mare Bolero Queen whose dam is a half-sister to the grand sprinter Cangronde.

Sadly, Torvill is the final foal of Bolero Queen who died in October last year.
