Gavelhouse graduate Scandalo took his earnings past the $100,000 mark when winning at Hastings on Saturday over 1400m.
Bought in January 2016 for $15,000 by his owner and trainer Patrick Campbell, Scandalo was a maiden who had done his racing in the South Island for Brian Court up until then.
Jumping from barrier three with apprentice Alex Shin on board, the son of Shocking settled nicely behind the leaders in third before getting rolling at the 200m mark. By the 100m mark Scandalo had a neck on the field courtesy of a sharp turn of foot to claim his sixth win with a length in hand at the line.
Scandalo, who is the son of stakes placed Savabeel mare Grandissima, has now had 23 starts for 11 placings in addition to his 6 wins for $106,000 in prize-money.
Patrick Campbell commented on result "Since we have had the horse he has never gone a bad race and on Saturday at Hastings he had a lot of luck and was well handled by Alex."
"He will have one more run and we will aim for 28 April at Hastings then he will go out for a well-deserved spell."
