Debut Winner for Kings Legacy

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 30

King’s Legacy posted a seventh first crop winner on Friday with a fast finishing debut victory at Goulburn for talented gelding Nothing But Net.

Trained by Blake Ryan and ridden by Jay Ford, Nothing but Net belied the lack of interest from punters when charging home late to snatch a half length win in the 1000m maiden over the Waterhouse Bott trained Farnan colt Farset.

Nothing But Net was bought by Blake Ryan for $65,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from Twin Hills Stud draft with a view to being re-offered at the Inglis Ready 2 RaceSale.

Nothing But Net showed plenty of potential at the breeze up sale.

He breezed smartly in 10.64 seconds, but was passed in at that sale and then sold subsequently on Inglis Digital in October for $30,000 to Matthew Sandblom of Kingstar Farm.

Bred by Belinda Bateman, who was one of the owners of King’s Legacy, Nothing but Net is the fifth winner from six to race from Swish, a placed More Than Read (USA) daughter of stakes-winner Georgette Silk.

King's Legacy

Swish has a yearling colt and weanling filly to follow both by King’s Legacy, who is priced at Coolmore this spring at $16,500.
