Sunninghill Park Set to Impress

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 6
The South Coast of New South Wales is an idyllic holiday location for not only people, but also for thoroughbreds with boutique spelling and breeding property Sunninghill Park offering the very best of everything including a stunning colt by Deep Field to be offered at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next week.

Sunninghill Park will make their debut as an Inglis Easter vendor with Lot 365,a handsome bay colt from the first crop of Northern Meteor's highly rated son Deep Field from stakes-placed Soapy Star.

Deep Field colt from Soapy StarHe is the first foal of the five time winning daughter of champion European sire Dubawi (IRE) and comes from a renowned Australian speed family featuring Group I winner Ruffles and Group winners Paris Miss, Ateates, True Glow and the more recent stakes-winner Boss Lane, who is also by Dubawi.

Stud Manager Karen Keighley has been with Sunninghill for almost four years and brings experience of 20+ years caring for horse athletes in performance, racework, rehabilitation, sales preparation and breeding.

She leads a small full time team of dedicated staff that have a cross section of skills and experience to ensure every horse is genuinely the centre of their attention, regardless of what they are being prepared for – from Breeding, Sales to Pre Training and Spelling.

"The secluded and relaxed location in Broughton Vale is set on 1200 acres of lush pastures and surrounded by the escarpment," said Karen Keighley.

"When you send a horse to spell with us that is exactly what they do, relax, recover and enjoy good sized paddocks with safe fencing.

"There is plenty of green pick on a farm that is relaxed and un-bustled for horses needing to unwind.

"Numbers are kept restricted to ensure quality individual care and our facilities are second to none."

Picturesque Sunninghill ParkSunnginghill Park has an all-weather walker, round yards, sand rolls, forest training trails on farm, and access to the beach 10 mins away and private or communal paddocks, all with save fencing and shelters.

Industry vets and farriers are 5min from farm and staff are based on the farm 24hrs a day.

"We can offer the complete package from first time covers for your maiden mare through to foaling down, raising and educating," said Keighley.

"We have great relationships with several Hunter Valley studs for the covering period or a walk on walk off service is available.

Weanlings and yearlings are regularly brought in for education, so whether they are being retained to race or requiring a sales preparation they will take it all in their stride."

Sunninghill is the passion and creation of Peter and Vesna James and has been home to stakes-winners such as Silent Sedition, Pierata, Velrosso, My Country, and Man from Uncle, with our growing list of clients including leading trainers Peter and Paul Snowden, Greg Hickman, Danny Williams and Ciaron Maher.
