Bylong Park Yearlings on Show at Riverside

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 4
Richard Johnston's Bylong Park has a proud history for producing quality performers that include Hong Kong Derby hero Luger, four time Group I winner Mosheen and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner and subsequent Group I winner Driefontein.

Bylong Park bred and sold Luger wins the 2015 Hong Kong DerbyA select band of mares and thoughtful matings have delivered plenty of success for Bylong Park, which is situated in idyllic horse country near Denman in the lower Hunter Valley.

Bylong Park were one of the first farms to taste success with the double Danehill (USA) cross producing not only Hong Kong Derby winner Luger, but also his full sister the brilliant dual Group III winner Psychologist.

They were both sold at Inglis Easter, Psychologist in 2009 for $120,000 and Luger in 2012 for $260,000. The pair are by Choisir from Miss Conception, an unraced daughter of Golden Slipper winning sire Danzero.

Bylong Park will offer the current yearling from Miss Conception, another filly by Choisir as Lot 233.

She is one of a draft of five Bylong Park youngsters that will all be available for inspection at Riverside Stables from 9 am on Thursday at Barn E, Stables 81 - 85.

The first to be offered is Lot 113, a filly by the leading Australian First Season Sire Zoustar from Encenito, an unraced Canny Lad mare from a big European family featuring a host of Group I winners including Scenic (IRE), who achieved much success at stud here in Australia.

$2million earner DriefonteinAnother filly with huge appeal is Lot 141 by red hot first season sire Deep Field from Fools Gold, a half-sister to $2.3 million earner Driefontein.

Fools Gold has had two foals to race and both are winners. The first of them, Black on Gold (Sebring) is a metropolitan winner of six races and over $300,000 in prizemoney and the second is unbeaten three year-old filly Charlayne.

The Sebring filly was retained to race by Bylong Park and sent to Chris Waller, who also trains Black on Gold. She won on debt at Canterbury in January before following up with another win at Rosehill in February and is an acceptor for the Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes this Saturday at Randwick with Michael Walker to ride.

The first of two colts is Lot 352, by Stratum from the good producer Sharp, a Group II winning daughter of Danzero. This colt is a half-brother to four winners including Group II placed In the Vanguard.

The final youngster on offer is Lot 518 , a Choisir colt from Capto, another good producer that has left seven winners including stakes-placed Rendzina and comes from the family of Group I winner Khaptingly.
