Who Do You Pick? Star Mares of Tomorrow

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 15

In chatting with our guest Jim Clarke this week on our Tara Talks Racing podcast we discussed a topic that will no doubt spark plenty of interest from our audience, if you could have one three year-old filly to take forward and race next season at four, who would it be?

The depth of quality in the three year-old fillies division this year has been dazzling with Lady Shenandoah (Snitzel) and Treasurethemoment (Alabama Express)winning three G1 races each, Aeliana (Castelvecchio) trouncing the colts to score a history making five length win in the Australian Derby, while unbeaten Autumn Glow (The Autumn Sun) has the X factor.

Outstanding older mares have been the backbone of elite Australian stakes racing this century with the likes of Makybe Diva, Black Caviar and Winx, followed more recently by Verry Ellegant, Imperatriz, Bella Nipotina, Pride of Jenni and current superstars Via Sistina (IRE) and Fangirl.

So which of this stellar group of three year-old fillies would you back to be at the start of what might be a very long and lucrative career?
