Champion Sires and Superb Mares

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 1
Champion sires and peerless female pedigrees can only mean one thing at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, you've arrived at the Cressfield draft.

A boutique farm that specialises at the top end of the market, Cressfield produce not only stunning yearlings with beautiful pedigrees, but yearlings that can run fast and train on.

The honour roll includes the likes of past stars Onemorenomore and Satin Shoes, while current stars include Group I winner and $1.4 million earner Clearly Innocent as well as Group I placed millionaire Missrock and classy stakes-winning mare Egyptian Symbol.

Cressfield will present the following six yearlings, all exceptional with comments in italics from Stud Manager Liesl Baumann:

Lot 6 Colt Frankel x Acts of Grace (GB), by Bahri

You'd be forgiven for thinking this guy was Australian bred, as the depth of his chest and bone is not typical of his international parentage. His dam's pedigree suggests favour in Australian conditions, herself being a ½ sister to Invincible Spirit, and also sharing the same granddam as Pride Of Dubai

One of only two in the sale by global sire sensation Frankel. Half-brother to three winners from Group III winning half-sister to champion sire and Group I winner Invincible Spirit. One of the hottest sire families in the world having also produced Kodiac, the world record holder for two year-old winners and Aussie dual 2YO Group I winner Pride of Dubai.

Lot 178 Filly Fastnet Rock x Jeu des Cartes, by Stravinsky (USA)

This mare's first foal by Frankel made $700,000 in 2016. Now named Flora de Mariposa she is already a winner over a mile in Japan. She is a short coupled, muscular filly with sound bone and feet and a huge nostril .

Third foal of Group II winning half-sister to Group I ATC Australian Derby winner and sire Nom du Jeu from dual Group I winner Prized Gem. Bred on the same cross as four time Group I winner Mosheen and four other stakes-winners including this season's juvenile SW's Long Leaf and Ennis Hill.

Lot 206 Filly I Am Invincible x Lilliburlero, by Redoute's Choice

She is the first foal out of the homebred Lilliburlero, she is forward type of filly, with an elegant length of rein, clean throat latch, attractive head and a lovely nature.

First foal of Group III winning daughter of Champion 3YO Filly Regimental Gal, a dual Group I winner of $1.6 million and a Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner. Dam is also a half-sister to stakes-placed Vimy, the dam of Group II winner Souchez. Bred on the same cross as Group III winner Overshare.

Lot 208 Colt Medaglia D'Oro (USA) x Listen Here, by Elusive Quality (USA)

He is certainly going to attract some interest. While this smart, well conformed colt still has some maturing to do, his quality is evident and he has a real presence about him.

Half-brother to Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting to Win and Group II winner Deep Field, both promising young sires with their first yearlings on offer at this sale. Dam made $3.4 million at auction in 2016 and her Zoustar filly made $1million at this sale, so that speaks volumes as to the worth of this pedigree!

Lot 229 Filly Fastnet Rock x Mid Summer Music, by Oamaru Force

This filly is personality plus, she is bold and inquisitive. She is scopey without being too big and this manifests in effortless, free movement.

Second foal of brilliant sprinter Mid Summer Music, 11 wins and $1.3 million inc. Group I BRC Stradbroke Handicap. Her first foal See it Thru, a colt by All Too Hard, made $225,000 at Magic Millions and won on debut at Sale last month for the Mick Kent stable.

Lot 402 Colt Exceed and Excel x Thump, by Red Ransom (USA)

This colt is tremendously well balanced, his intelligent head and his engaged movement make him a real eye catcher.

First foal of top class filly Thump, who scored four Graded wins and over $500,000 in prizemoney including the Group II ATC Surround Stakes, now upgraded to Group I status. Second and third dams Oomph and Nobellotto are also stakes-winners.

See the draft at Barn B 6 – 13.
