Juvenile Trial Watch - Caulfield Heath

There were official barrier trials on the Caulfield Heath track on Thursday including three for the youngsters and first season sires were prominent with another promising Farnan winner and placegetters by Peltzer and Doubtland.

Heat seven over the 1000m saw the unraced Getta Good Feeling find the line nicely to win narrowly over another unraced one in Royal Lodge.

By So You Think from Marquise De Rossa, Getta Good Feeling was a $400,000 weanling buy for Suman Hedge Bloodstock from Phoenix Broodmare Farm at Magic Millions National Weanlings then made $500,000 from Milburn Creek at Inglis Easter to Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock for Pinecliffe Racing.

She’s a half-sister to Group III CS Hayes Stakes winner, and Group I placed Elliptical.

While this was her first official barrier trial, she’d had three jumpouts prior, twice over 800m and then over 1000m on April 2 at Flemington.

The runner-up is another unraced one in Royal Lodge, a gelding by first season sire Doubtland from Queen’s Fashion in the Amy and Ash Yargi yard.

Heat 15 gave us a look at yet another unraced Farnan youngster showing talent in Alphabet.

A filly by Farnan out of the Irish bred Danehill Dancer mare Caribbean Sunset, she’s a half-sister to the stakes winning Holbien and was a $180,000 buy for her trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman from Kia Ora Stud at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Asked to find the line mid straight by Jamie Mott, she did it nicely winning with something in hand over one by another first season sire in Peltzer’s Buccleuch.

The other two-year-old heat was won by the unraced Oceansprint, a Blue Point gelding out of Flokkati.

A $115,000 buy for McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock from Willow Dale Farm at Magic Millions Perth, he’d had four prior jumpouts and it showed with this professional effort in a four horse trial.
