$1.4million for Schwarz Brother

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 7

Widden Stud had an early highlight at Inglis Easter on Monday morning selling the full brother to Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes winner Schwarz for $1.4million.

$1.4million Zoustar colt from Summer sham.

A flashy chestnut with four white feet, who is nothing like his unmarked bay brother in colouring, the colt from Group II winner Summer Sham was purchased by James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership/Tony Fung Colts.

“He was a horse that we all loved as a team right from the beginning, actually when he walked out of his box here in the complex,” said James Harron.

“It's a very exciting, very happening family and he’s very athletic horse with a great way about him.

“He’s an uncomplicated type of colt as well; you can see him getting up and going next year too. He looks like a forward type of Zoustar, good brain, very good middle, just a real muscular horse, everything about him was quite taut and racy and fast twitchy, so fingers crossed!

“He’s for ourselves and TFI and we'll work out a trainer at the end of the sales.”

Summer Sham has been a very profitable producer for Widden Stud and this colt is her third to sell for $1million or more with Schwarz purchased for $1.25million in 2022 and then Tuscany made $1.55million at this sale last year and in between those colts was a filly that sold for $800,000.

Tracing back to blue hen Shantha’s Choice, Summer Sham had another filly by Zoustar last spring and is back in foal to him again.
