Last of the Deep Field Yearlings Sold Today

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 6

Pensioned in 2022 after losing his fertility, reigning Champion Hong Kong Sire Deep Field had his last two yearlings to be offered at Inglis Easter sell on Sunday with a colt and a filly selling for $300,000 and $550,000.

$300,00 Deep Field colt from Lashes

HP Thoroughbreds were well rewarded for their colt from metro winning I Am invincible mare Lashes, who made $300,000 when purchased by astute Warwick Farm trainer Mattthew Smith.

Smith purchased Lashes as a yearling and trained her throughout her career with the speedy mare winning five races and over $330,000 in prizemoney before she was sold off the track to HP Thoroughbreds through Inglis Digital for $60,000.

Given his knowledge of Lashes, it was no surprise to see Smith in the bidding for this colt and he will get every opportunity to replicate and hopefully exceed the success of his dam.

$550,000 Deep Field filly from Macroura

The last Deep Field filly was offered by Yulong and bought by Kia Ora Stud for $550,000 and is the second foal of Macroura, a Group III winning three-quarter sister to dual Group I winner Sunshine in Paris.
