Fields Set For Selangor's NZB Ready to Run Graduate Cup

Media Release - Thursday April 3

Malaysia continues to emerge as a leading racing jurisdiction, and the major racing club in Selangor Turf Club (STC), has had a long-standing relationship with NZB.

As a result of the partnership, STC announced a raft of bonus races for graduates of NZB’s Ready to Run Sale as well as incentives for their trainers to purchase at the leading sale of its kind.

The first of that series takes place this Sunday 6 April 2025, with the staging of the RM150,000 NZB Ready To Run Cup containing a high quality field of 12 graduates from the 2023 Sale, ranging in purchase prices from $25,000 to $100,000.

Of those, top performer Duma (NZ) (Too Darn Hot) looks the one to beat, despite his last-start unplaced run. The Frank Maynard-trained gelding has won two of his five starts and run second on another two occasions.

Duma was purchased for $45,000 by Esther Quan Hui Lim from Prima Park's 2023 NZB Ready to Run Sale draft.

NZB's Director of Business Mike Kneebone is looking forward to the feature race.

"Malaysian buyers have been an integral part of the success of our Ready to Run Sale for many years. The Sale has always been a source of quality and value for them, with a big catalogue for more options."

"It's an exciting weekend of racing for them as they continue to strengthen their racing position and expand their horse population, and we can't wait to see them back at Karaka again in November."

The RM150,000 NZB Ready To Run Cup is set to take place Sunday around 9:25 PM (NZT).

The NZB Ready to Run 2023 Graduate Cup offers stakes of RM150,000 while the second race in the Series, the NZB Ready To Run Open Championship will be held on 2 November 2025 and will offer prize money of RM300,000.

NZB's 2025 Ready to Run Sale will take place on 13 and 14 November at Karaka while the Breeze Ups are scheduled for 13 and 14 October at Te Rapa Racecourse.
