Outstanding G1 Mare Atishu Bound for National Broodmare Sale

Media Release - Thursday March 27

One of Australasia’s most accomplished racemares will command significant attention at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast this May.

A leading contender in this Saturday’s $2.5 million Australian Cup, the elite Savabeel mare Atishu boasts a glittering career that includes three Group One victories and over $5.7 million in prizemoney.

Her consistent success at the highest level has earned her widespread acclaim from racing enthusiasts and her ownership group, Go Racing.

"She's taken us on a fantastic ride," Go Racing’s Albert Bosma said. "She’s a very special horse."

"From day one she showed she was going to have an exciting future. She was able to run amazing sectionals in New Zealand from the outset."

"At home she won four straight before heading to Australia and winning first time out in Sydney. Two starts later she won a Group Three Bill Ritchie (Stakes)."

Atishu’s Group One triumphs in Sydney and Melbourne have come against some of the best in the country, including Pride of Jenni, Duais, Zaaki, Prowess, Amelia’s Jewel, Montefilia, Zardozi, Orchestral, Alcohol Free, and West Wind Blows—firmly establishing her as one of the elite mares of her generation.

"She’s one of those mares that has kept getting better and better and she continues to race so well at the highest level."

"Atishu was a lovely yearling. Her full sister the year before sold for $875,000 and Atishu was very similar looking."

"She has developed into a lovely looking mare, with great conformation and a tremendous will to win."

Atishu’s sale appearance will mark a poignant moment for her connections.

"There will be mixed emotions for sure. She has provided us with so many thrills. It will be sad to see her leave the team, but we are also excited about what the future will hold for her and being able to see what she can produce."

Atishu will be joined in the National Broodmare Sale by fellow Go Racing star Diss is Dramatic, a triple Group winner in New Zealand, including the Group Two Japan Trophy. The well-related mare is expected to attract significant attention from breeders around the globe.

Entries are now closing for all sections of the National Sale and the Broodmare section will feature other racetrack stars including Group 2 winners Amazonian Lass and Revolutionary Miss amongst a host of other stars to be revealed in the coming days.

The National Weanling Sale will feature an outstanding line-up of quality youngsters from some of the country’s most respected nurseries. Leading vendors confirmed to present drafts include Amarina Farm, Attunga Stud, Bell River Thoroughbreds, Bhima Thoroughbreds, Burnewang North, Canning Downs, Cornerstone Stud, Emirates Park, KBL Thoroughbreds, Kenmore Lodge, Lustre Lodge, Newgate Farm, and Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, just to name a few.

The National Broodmare Sale is shaping as a showcase of elite breeding prospects, with a catalogue set to include mares from some of the most coveted families in the Southern Hemisphere. High-quality mares in foal to a stellar line-up of sires—Extreme Choice, Farnan, Home Affairs, I Am Invincible, Ole Kirk, Proisir, Shinzo, Too Darn Hot, and Zoustar, to name a few—will be among the standout offerings.

Meanwhile, the National Yearling Sale will present the final major opportunity for breeders and vendors on the east coast to showcase their yearlings to a diverse and competitive buying bench. With strong engagement from local, interstate, and international buyers, the sale promises to be a key marketplace for quality yearlings
