Winner disqualified after jockey weighs in light

Tom Walter - Monday August 7

Sunday's Port Hedland Cup (2200m) winner Totes Amaze was disqualified after the jockey weighed in light.

Totes Amaze ($10), owned and trained by Dean Cocivera, was first past the post in the $50,000 WA country feature but lost the race when rider Peter Farrell returned to scale 0.8kg under his permitted weight.

The race was consequently awarded to the runner-up, Frangipani Monster ($26) from the Len Healey stable.

The Darryn Pateman-trained Starry Dane ($3.60 fav) was promoted to second while Peter Bamford's Diamonds Uncut ($10) claimed third.
