Six trials for the two year-olds at Warwick Farm on Friday and there were plenty of big banger yearling buys at the pointy end, along with a bargain by Written By and yet another Farnan colt showing talent.
Heat 9 saw the first look at Tigleta (2f Capitalist x Paulita) for Bjorn Baker with a couple of high powered placegetters.
A $140,000 buy at Inglis Classic for Baker and Clark Bloodstock from Newgate Farm, she’s out of a dual stakes winning mare by Scat Daddy.
Runner-up Thalestris really caught the eye hitting the line hard and looks ready to go after three trials in the last few weeks.
A $1.8million yearling by I Am Invincible from Notting Hill, her third dam is the famed Shantha‘s Choice.
Third was another unraced I Am Invincible filly in Rajwa, a homebred for Emirates Park and the half-sister to Manaal.
Heat 11 – won impressively by Penpel, a filly by Written By from Peltier having her first trial back since seen at the official trials in September, finishing seventh behind Strada Varenna.
She was a $20,000 buy for her trainer from Widden Stud at Book Two of Magic Millions Gold Coast and that’s looking like it’s going to be a bargain.
We also saw another strong finishing display from the unraced I Am Invincible filly Sylph at her second trial.
Sylph is a homebred for Yarraman Park and half-sister to Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate winner Booker and stakes-winner Banquo.
Heat 12 - The Waterhouse Bott stable gave expensive blueblood Written Tycoon colt Chicama another test out to win his heat.
He’s had one start for a pretty average effort when down the track on debut in the ATC Golden Gift last year but has turned in two strong trials this new preparation, albeit tested out both times.
A $1.35million Inglis Easter purchase for China Horse Club / Newgate / Go Bloodstock / Trilogy, he’s a colt with a huge pedigree as a half-brother to triple Group I winner Shoals and stakes-winner Groundswell being from The Broken Shore, a daughter of Shantha’s Choice.
We got our first look at the runner-up here, another expensive Magic Millions colt in Beadman.
By Snitzel out of French stakes winner Iffranesia, he was a $900,000 buy for the same team as Chicama but trained by Peter Snowden.
Heat 13 – We got a look at the return trial of million-dollar Zoustar colt Jet.
Given a quiet trial on the Kensington Track in December when quite green, he was much better this time sitting up on the pace and getting to the line nicely.
Jet was a $1million buy at Magic Millions Gold Coast for James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership from Segenhoe Stud as agent for Fairway Thoroughbreds.
He’s the first foal of stakes wining Foxwedge mare Villami from a strong family which includes VRC Oaks winner Personal.
The runner-up, Impact Zone also trialled nicely and not for the first time, it was his third, all suggesting potential.
By Exceed And Excel from NZ Group II winner Gift Of Power, he was a $575,000 buy for China Horse Club and partners from Rosemont Stud at Magic Millions.
Heat 14 – The first look at yet another Farnan colt showing plenty of talent in Farindira.
Out of NZ Group II placed Falkirk mare Somethinginvain, Farindira was a $120,000 buy for Kia Ora Stud/Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott from Clarke & Croft Bloodstock at the Magic Million National Weanling Sale.
The colt showed good natural pace once he hit his stride and went to the line with plenty to offer with the look of a horse that’s going to keep improving.
He’s the third unraced juvenile trial winner waiting in the wings for the first season Golden Slipper winner who has had five winners to date and sees three of his colts running in tomorrow’s Golden Slipper.
