One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 20

Last season’s Champion 2YO Sire in both Australia and New Zealand, Written Tycoon will have three runners in the Golden Slipper on Saturday in Tycoon Star, Skyhook and Military Tycoon and the Yulong heavyweight produced a debut winner at Pakenham on Thursday evening that could also be headed to stakes company.

The Lindsay Park trained Scenic Point was also entered for the Listed MVRC Moonee Valley Pearl on Saturday, but connections opted for an easier option and the two year-old filly duly bolted in.

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse, Scenic Point made light work of the 1100m maiden powering clear to win by three and a half lengths as an odds on favourite.

“She's really lovely. She's trialled up really well and she's got such a beautiful action,” said Daniel Stackhouse.

“She's still very green and raw and has no idea what she's doing, but she's just got so much ability about her. I think she'll probably improve another five lengths off today.

“She just felt like she's doing that in a hand canter.

“I'd say she's one of the nicest fillies I've ever ridden. I just love the way she goes about things and she's got a bright future.”

Scenic Point was a $450,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Ridgmont.

A $450,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Ridgmont Farm for KPW Bloodstock, Scenic Point runs for Judy Wanless and was a successful pinhook having been bought as a weanling from the Magic Millions Edinburgh Park Dispersale for $190,000 by  James Bester Bloodstock/Ridgmont Farm.

Scenic Point is the second foal and second winner from Ludicrous Mode, a placed half-sister by Snitzel to Group II winner Glenfiddich.

She looks another bright prospect for the Written Tycoon x Snitzel nick that has produced three G1 winners in Private Life, Velocious and Captured by Love.

Ludicrous Mode was bought by Yulong from the Edinburgh Park Dispersal in 2023 for $160,000  and she produced a filly for them by Pierata last year before going to Written Tycoon again.
