Railway Man Tops Inglis Digital at $210,000

Media Release - Wednesday March 12

The well-related Railway Man – today’s Inglis Digital March (Early) sale topper – will race the next phase of his career in Hong Kong after being purchased by Pure Bloodstock for $210,000.

Ben Kwan purchased the son of I Am Invincible and Booker – initially a $2.5m yearling – for a client, who will have the 3YO gelded immediately and transported to Hong Kong within the next six months.

A new trainer for Railway Man is yet to be decided upon.

“He will have a little spell in Australia first and head up to Hong Kong in July or August,’’ Kwan said.

“I introduced this horse to my client when I saw him on Inglis Digital last week and he went and looked at the pedigree and his form and decided he wanted to buy the horse, he gave me a budget to bid with and he’s so happy that he will now race the horse himself.

“We think he will be a very good horse in Hong Kong. We enjoy buying off Inglis Digital because we have had luck in the past with horses such as Sing Dragon and Excellence Value, which have both won in Hong Kong, so we are big supporters of the platform.’’

Railway Man was offered by Coolmore, whose John Kennedy said: “Ciaron Maher’s team at Warwick Farm and most recently Ballarat have done a great job with Railway Man and we wish his new owners all the best with him.

“This is another strong result that the Inglis Digital platform has helped create, we’re delighted he will head to a new home in Hong Kong and we hope to see him develop into one of the leading horses up there.’’

Today’s second top lot was the broodmare Tiempe Passate – in foal to Ozzmosis – which sold to Matthew Blundell’s Racing And Breeding for $200,000.

The mare was offered by Sledmere Stud on behalf of Ghandarvi Racing.

“She’s a lovely young mare who’s already thrown a gorgeous first foal and the Ozzmosis mating was a perfect one for her,’’ Sledmere’s Royston Murphy said.

“We find the online market great, especially saving the hassle of shipping these mares around the country.

“These pregnant mares especially, the less they have to be transported, the better it is for them so it just makes sense to sell them on Inglis Digital.’’

Blundell teamed up with his business partner Tony Rodhouse and some of the other owners of Stay Inside – the 2021 Golden Slipper winner they raced – to buy Tiempe Passate.

“My first horse was Prime Star, who won an Inglis Millennium, then we struck Stay Inside… and now we’ve branched out into the breeding game as well,’’ Blundell said.

“We’ll foal down the Ozzmosis and then maybe send Tiempe Passate to Stay Inside.

“I’ve sold horses on Inglis Digital but this is the first time I’ve used the platform as a buyer and it was good as gold, super easy, no hassles.’’

Railway Man and Tiempe Passate were two of eight horses to realises $100,000 or more in today’s sale, joined by Dios ($155,000), a Bivouac breeding right ($140,000), Alero ($130,000), House of Cards ($115,000), Delicious Tycoon ($101,500) and Imposing Lass in foal to Zousain ($100,000).

In total the sale grossed $3,612,750.

Inglis Digital continues to provide quality results both on the racetrack and in the sale ring.

Last Friday at Newcastle, Sandpaper became the latest Stakes winner off the platform when winning the G3 Newcastle Stakes.

Sandpaper was a $130,000 online buy for Darby Racing from Godolphin in September last year - he has raced five times since for trainer Bjorn Baker for two wins and three minor placings and earned just shy of $300,000.

Other recent Stakes winners off the platform include Philosopher (Listed WJ Adams Stakes), Coastwatch (Listed John Dillon Stakes) and Prairie Flower (Listed Durbridge Stakes).

And at last week’s Premier Yearling Sale at Oaklands, a Lucky Vega x Our Eppy filly realised $200,000 to the bid of Hawkes Racing.

Ben Gunn purchased Our Eppy for just $6000 on Inglis Digital, making a significant return on investment.

Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital March (Late) Sale, which will run from March 21-26.

Entries will close at midnight next Wednesday, March 19.
