gavelhouse graduate Longford rewarded his connections with a win at Ashburton on Thursday where in a notable accomplisment all seven races on the card were won by female jockeys.
It was Longford's third start for his new owners having been bought for just $1,800 from Westbury Stud on gavelhouse.com.
Longford was second favourite come post time and in the straight, he found a gap and ran on well, quickly joining the leaders before finishing a length and three quarters clear.
Purchaser and co-owner Ben Appelby was thrilled with the stylish performance "It was really good ride from Sam Collet, coming out of the turn they found a gap and he ran on impressively,"
"I'm excited to see what he does over further as I think he wants more ground, 1800 – 2000 metres would probably suit him better."
A nother successful gavelhouse.com graduate for Appelby, $3,200 buy Jumeirah from The Oaks Stud, has come back into work this week.
Having won two races and just shy of $30,000 since heading south to the Les and Richard Didham stable, Appelby reported on their plans with her "Jumeirah has returned to the stable this week and seems to likes the deeper tracks so we will aim for something in May with her."
The Oaks Stud have one Lot in the current sale, Lot 28 , Theladyrocks who is a NZB Insurance Pearl Series Bonus eligible filly by Roc de Cambes offered unreserved as a racing and breeding proposition.
