Lite'n In My Veins Strikes in CS Hayes Stakes

Mark Smith - Monday March 12

A dual Group III winner for Fred Kersley in Perth earlier in his career, Lite'n In My Veins broke a long run of outs for his new trainer Aaron Purcell when winning on Morphettville at his most recent start, he parlayed that success in the C S Hayes Memorial Cup (1600m) on the same track on Adelaide Cup day.

Ridden by Mark Zahra, Lite'n In My Veins sat outside the flanks of the leader Chamois Road (Choisir) before edging past that gelding to win by a length and a quarter with Petrology (Fastnet Rock) back in third.

The 5yo son of Henrythenavigator (USA) advanced his record to 7 wins and 2 seconds from 21 starts with earnings of $560,615.

"He was a long time between wins, his first few starts for us he wanted to pull a lot and not finish off but his last couple he has settled well and has been really strong to the line so we are really excited about his future," Purcell said.

"He travelled well today and we were always confident he would fight out the finish.

"We'll find another race over a mile – 1800 metres for him in about three weeks and I'm sure he will be hard to beat again."

Bred by Oakland Park Stud, Lite'n In My Veins was in utero when his dam Beauty World was bought by Belmont Bloodstock Agency for $50,000 out of the Coolmore Stud draft at the 2012 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.

At the time of her sale, Beauty World had already had five foals, which included the Stratum gelding American Crew who finished third in the Group 1 BRC TJ Smith Classic.

It signalled a remarkable run of black-type horses for Beauty World.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer has eight foals to race and all are winners.

Besides Lite'n In My Veins, the run of stakes winners included Hi World (High Chaparral), Loveyamadly (Bel Esprit) and the talented Ducimus (Snitzel) as well as the stakes-placegetters American Crew and Where's Wally.

Little wonder that Beauty World's ninth foal, a filly by Sepoy, made $400,000 at the recent Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

By some margin, that is the most expensive yearling by his sire to date in 2018.

Beauty World has a filly foal by Written Tycoon but missed for the first time in her career when covered by Snitzel in 2017.

Lite'n In My Veins is the standout performer from the four crops left in Australia by 4-season Coolmore shuttler Henrythenavigator (USA) (pictured).
