Fifth Grade One Winner for Artie Schiller

Aquis Farm's high class shuttler Artie Schiller (USA) featured in the US on the weekend with a new Grade I winner after Bowies Hero took out the $400,000 Grade I Frank E Kilroe Mile at Santa Anita.

Artie SchillerTrained by Philip D'Amato; Bowies Hero was already a Grade II stakes-winner, but produced a career best performance to win the one mile on turf by half a length.

"Tomorrow is my birthday [42], but we'll celebrate it today," said Phil D'Amato.

"This horse competes every step of the way. He's steadily progressing and today he showed he can compete amongst the elite in the turf mile division. Hat's off to Corey [Nakatani] for helping this horse's development.

Mark Martinez, of co-owner Agave Racing, added, "We'll just enjoy this one before making any plans, but I will say this...I used to say he was an honest horse but now, he's just a damn good horse."

The four year-old entire has won six of 13 starts banking over $640,000 in prizemoney.

Bowies Hero is the fifth Group I winner for Artie Schiller and is from Sky Mesa mare Remembered, a half-sister to Group II winner and sire Mint Lane (USA).
