Goldin
Farms Champion HK racehorse Akeed Mofeed (GB) sired his first winner with an exciting
victory for the Team Hawkes trained juvenile Heart Conquered over 1000m at
Morphettville on Saturday.
Having his second start after finishing fourth on debut to subsequent
stakes-winner Long Leaf in Adelaide back in October, the two-year-old colt
began well and settled in the first half of the field before being asked for an
effort by jockey Todd Pannell.
Heart Conquered quickly accounted for the leaders before staving off the
challenge of Frazier to win by three-quarters of a length with Akeed Mofeed
filly La Vita in third place.
"It was a good win," Pannell said.
"I rode the horse in his first start last year, he was very green and John
(Hawkes) made the right decision to tip him out and give him some time to
mature.
"The horse relaxes good, he switches off good and he's very professional
so he's going the right way about it."
A homebred for Goldin Farms, Heart Conquered is the first winner for seven-time
winning Show a Heart mare Heart to Fear.
By champion sire Dubawi, Akeed Mofeed won both the Hong Kong Derby and Hong
Kong Cup during a fruitful racing career that saw him rated the third best
horse in the world in early 2014.
Akeed Mofeed was retired to stand at South Australia's Goldin Farms in 2014 and
stands at a fee of $16,500.
He has three entries for the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale next week.
