$1million Stay Inside Colt Sold by Eureka Stud

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 7

Late on Tuesday, Queensland based nursery Eureka Stud hit a home run at the Magic Millions when their colt from the first crop of Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside from Bleu Zebra sold for $1million.

Stay Inside colt from Bleu Zebra sold for $1million.

Bred by Queensland bloodstock enterprise Black Soil Bloodstock, the star colt was the highest priced of five yearlings sold on day one by Newgate Farm’s Stay Inside, who finished with an average of $494,000.

He was bought by James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership/Tony Fung Colts and they believe he has the right attributes to try and target the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next year.

“Gorgeous horse. All the team loved him,” said James Harron.

“He comes from a great farm and is by a very exciting first-season sire.

“He was one of our top picks of the sale. We had to push hard and that is the sort of marketplace we’re in. The good ones are well-found.

“He didn’t put a foot wrong all week."

The colt is the second foal of metro winning I Am Invincible mare Bleu Zebra, who was bought from Magic Millions as a yearling for $600,000 by Black Soil Bloodstock, who then raced her with Tony Gollan before retiring her to stud after just eight starts for three wins and two placings.

“We love seeing horses coming off farms with rich histories and these horses are suited to Australian conditions,” said James Harron.

She (Bleu Zebra) was a decent, fast mare and a city winner here in Queensland and by a champion sire who is becoming a good broodmare sire.

“He’s a real Magic Millions-type colt and the aim would be to have him back here next year. He’s the right type of horse to try it.”

Bleu Zebra produced a filly foal last year by Pinatubo (IRE) and is now in foal Don Corleone.
