Balloted
out of last week's Blue Diamond Stakes, Hinchinbrook filly Seabrook overcame a
tough run to win the Sweet Embrace Stakes at Randwick on Saturday with Hugh
Bowman declaring she's got "Slipper written all over her".
After drawing a wide gate, luck wasn't with the Mick Price trained Seabrook
with Hugh Bowman forced to sit four wide and without cover for the majority of
the race.
She loomed strongly in the straight however and maintain a powerful run to the
line to win by a half length from Fiesta (I Am Invincible x Now Now) with Into
The Abyss (Foxwedge x Moonboat) third.
It was the third start for the filly who was forced to miss the Blue Diamond after
a luckless third in the Blue Diamond Prelude behind Enbihaar at her latest
start didn't give her enough in the ballot to gain a start.
It may have been the blessing however with Bowman excited by the performance and
the likely improvement.
"She was a bit new going this way for the first time."
"I would think she'll improve a lot for the experience of running here."
"It's testing conditions. She had to do it hard and she was tough late. Slipper
written all over her."
Seabrook was foaled in New Zealand when his dam Midnight Revels returned home after
being served by Hinchinbrook.
Midnight Revels is a half-sister to Group Two winner My Emotion from a family which
includes Group One Coolmore Classic winner Aloha.
Seabrook was an $85,000 buy for Blueblood Thoroughbreds from the Maluka
Thoroughbreds draft at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale last year.
Hinchinbrook has eight yearlings in the same sale starting this week and 10
entered for Inglis Australian Easter Sale.
