There is stakes racing on the last day of the year at Wyong with the running of the Group III Belle of the Turf Stakes (1625m) and Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m), which has the top weight Amazing Eagle, who is also high on the order of entry for the $3million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas on Saturday week.
Trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, Amazing Eagle won the Listed ATC Sir Brian Crowley Stakes two starts ago and most recently struck a heavy 10 when he ventured to Brisbane for the $160,000 BRC Pierata Plate, which was won by Street Chase with Give Me Space third and those two horses ran the quinella in the Group III BRC Vo Rogue Plate last Saturday.
That’s good form and the son of Capitalist is equal favourite with Midnight Dynamite, who is also testing some form for the MM 3YO Guineas as he split Arriving Home and Getafix last start when narrowly beaten at Randwick and the start before he was third to Private Harry, who runs in the $3million Sunlight.
Also beware of Shohisha, the David Payne trained Supido filly, who impressed winning on debut in the spring and then not disgraced in the Group II ATC Darley Furious Stakes albeit out of the placings.
Exceedance filly Dance to the Boom looking to protect her perfect record, two for two so far and up in class.
The Belle of the Turf provides a golden opportunity for Press Statement mare Pier Pressure to win a stakes race and she does deserve it. Placed behind Militarize in the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes at two, she was in the wilderness for a long time after, but comes into this with three straight wins including a victory over archrival Chica Mohito (NZ).
