New Stakes-Winner for Fastnet Rock

Media Release - Monday February 26

The Listed ATC Parramatta Cup at Rosehill on Saturday was won by seven-year-old Fastnet Rock gelding More Energy, who turned in a career-best performance to score his first Black Type win.

The longest priced runner in the field of 11, he charged home to win the 1900 metre staying test by a nose. The win came as no real surprise to his trainer Jason Coyle, who thought all the gelding needed was a bit of luck.

"He has been flying since his first start," Coyle said. "All his runs have been good, but we've just been waiting for that ideal draw.

"We'd drawn poorly in a few starts and nothing had panned out for him but today he had drawn soft and he got the right run in transit and he was nice and strong at the finish.

"This time last preparation he ran second in a Group II in Queensland so once he is fit and going he will keep running big races so we'll go to the Randwick City Stakes in a couple of weeks."

More Energy was a $150,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Toolooganvale Farm draft for DGR Thoroughbreds and has won six races and nearly $300,000 in prizemoney for Les Tinkler's Serene Lodge.

The 130th stakes-winner for champion sire Fastnet Rock, More Energy is a half-brother to Group III placed Hard Promise and is from South African Group I winner Perfect Promise.
