Too Darn Hot Maiden a New Stakes-Winner

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 14

He’d had eight starts and placed in four of them before lining up in the $200,000 Listed BRC Gold Edition Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday and Too Darn Hot (GB) gelding Superalloy finally found his turn to shine.

Trained by Rex Lipp and ridden by Angela Jones, Superalloy showed real promise when finishing a close third in the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes last season behind Broadsiding, but a win had proven elusive.

He made light of the heavy 10 conditions to score by a length and has now won over $336,000 in prizemoney.

A homebred for Fraser Thoroughbreds, Superalloy is the 18th stakes-winner worldwide for Too Darn Hot, but given he is not Magic Millions eligible will be looking towards the Brisbane Winter Carnival next year.

Superalloy is the sixth stakes-winner in Australia this season for Too Darn Hot and is the best of two winners from Oria, a metro winning half-sister by Medaglia D’Oro (USA) to the dam of dual Group I winner Mustang Valley from the family of two time Australian Horse of the Year might and Power.

Oria has a yearling filly by Churchill (IRE) and had a filly this year by St Mark’s Basilica (FR).

Too Darn Hot (GB) has had six Aussie stakes-winners this season.

Too Darn Hot did not shuttle to Australia this spring for Darley and his progeny are likely to be in high demand at sales in 2025 starting at Magic Millions where he as 24 on offer.
