One Blue Diamond pedigree stands out

Darryl Sherer - Thursday February 22

There are 20 acceptors for Saturday's Group I Blue Diamond Stakes but only one can boast both parents as Group I winners at Caulfield.

Godolphin-owned colt Encryption is by Lonhro out of the Group I Thousand Guineas winner Guelph, a daughter of Exceed And Excel who won the Group I Invitation Stakes at Caulfield.

Lonhro (Octagonal) himself finished fourth in the Blue Diamond Stakes won by True Jewels before winning the Caulfield Guineas at three followed by two runnings of the Caulfield Stakes and a CF Orr Stakes.

In addition to her Thousand Guineas success, Guelph won a further three times at Group I level in the Flight Stakes, the ATC Champagne Stakes and the ATC Sires' Produce Stakes.Guelph

Encryption's granddam Camarilla (Elusive Quality) won the Group I AJC Sires' Produce Stakes and finished fourth in the Blue Diamond Stakes.

Her dam Camarena (Danehill) won the Group I Queensland Derby and is a sister to Watchful, the dam of 2011 Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper Stakes winner Sepoy (Elusive Quality).

Encryption is Guelph's first foal followed by a 2016 filly Amanate, also by Lonhro, and she foaled a colt last September by Lonhro.
