Aussies on Fire in HK

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 2

Former Randwick trainer Mark Newnham has had a strong start to the season in Hong Kong and had a winning treble at Sha Tin on Sunday and all three winners were Aussie bred and two of them have siblings in upcoming sales.

The feature race on Sunday was  The Peninsula Golden Jubilee Challenge Cup (1200m) for class two horses and Newnham got the money with Written Tycoon gelding Sing Dragon, who was originally sold as a yearling at Inglis Easter for $900,000 to Tom Magnier and was then snapped up for Hong Kong through Inglis Digital for $230,000.

Sing Dragon has now won six of 17 starts and Wentwood Grange will offer his half-brother by Home Affairs at Magic Millions as Lot 897.

Talents Ambition won his first two starts at Tamworth in Australia last year when trained by Cody Morgan before being sold to Hong Kong and this was his second win, so he has now won four of 11 starts.

Talents Ambition has a half-brother by Harry Angel (IRE) headed to Inglis Classic for Infinity Thoroughbreds as Lot 674.

Bringing up the treble was progressive Flying Artie four year-old My Wish, who has won three races and placed twice from six starts.

My Wish is a star on the rise with stakes goals ahead as his season unfolds. His dam Set the Tone has foaled this spring producing another colt by Flying Artie.
