Magic Plan for Capitalist Filly

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 30

Capitalist filly Miss Altair was one of two smart three year-old winners on Friday night at Moonee Valley for the Lindsay Park team and her connections are dreaming of a trip to the Gold Coast in January for the progressive three year-old.

Miss Altair finished fourth in her first two runs back in May and June, but has been a stronger filly this time around. She scored by four lengths to break her maiden at Pakenham at the start of the month and then cruised home to win by a couple of lengths in the Benchmark 64 event over 1200m as favourite last night.

Miss Altair was a $240,000 Magic Millions purchase for Lindsay Park Racing from the Kenmore Lodge draft and is owned by an all female ownership group.

“It was a very convincing win which is exciting as she’s another horse that has taken time to develop, but what is very exciting about her is she is a Gold Coast ladies horse and they way she ran tonight that 1400m race up at the Gold Coast might look good for her and with a $250,000 ladies bonus attached it is a great race for her to head towards,” said Ben Hayes.

“We’ll be mapping out a path for her, probably the Ballarat Magic Millions race next and then fourth up into the Gold Coast.”

Miss Altair was bred by Stuart Ramsey’s Turangga Farm and is the first foal of Shining Eagle, a winning half-sister by Verrazzano (USA) to stakes-winner Being Fabulous from Group I winner Dashing Eagle.

Lindsay Park Racing also won the first race for Yulong with a well bred filly by Lope de Vega in Clean Reef, who scored by nearly two lengths over 1200m at her first run back from a spell following two placings at her only two previous runs during the winter.

Conceived in Ireland, Clean Reef is the first foal of imported Fastnet Rock mare Pattle Reef (IRE), an unraced half-sister to the dam of Group III winner Salford Secret  from a family bristling with Group I winners Dylan Thomas, Queen’s Logic, Homecoming Queen, Big Evs,  Shale and Epsom Derby winner Serpentine, now racing in Australia.

Yulong will offer the yearling colt by Lucky Vega (IRE) from Pattle Reef (IRE) at Magic Millions as Lot 768.
