Million Dollar Fastnet Rock Filly Impresses on Debut

Mark Smith - Sunday February 18

The Brent Stanley-trained Casadiva showed she will make a dent in her $1,150,000 purchase price before her days are done when leading all the way at her career debut in a competitive maiden over 1100 metres at Bendigo on Saturday.

Ridden by Ryan Maloney, Casadiva took control of the race shortly after the start and was strong to the line in a one and three-quarter length win over the favourite Aristocratic Miss (Foxwedge) with Krone (Eurozone) three-quarters of a length back in third.

A half-sister to Listed stakes-winner and Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes third Zamzam (Redoute's Choice), Casadiva (pictured as a yearling ) was purchased by Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds for $1,150,000 out of the Newgate Farm draft at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Her Group 1-placed dam Fleur De'here (Dehere) is a half-sister to Group 1 SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Tully Thunder (Thunder Gulch) and Listed winner sufficient (Zabeel).

Fleur De'here's yearling Snitzel filly was sold at the Gold Coast where she was knocked down to Shane Nichols Racing $185,000.

Fleur De'here has a filly foal by Redoute's Choice and was among the 185 mares covered by Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes hero Flying Artie in his first season at Newgate Farm last year.
